Today would have been my Granny's 82nd birthday. Although she is no longer with us, I am still celebrating. I am taking this day to look through the cards and notes she sent me, the heirlooms she passed on, and wrap myself in the warmth I still feel from her last hug. I'm going to get a salad at Panera and picture her across from me eating her french onion soup. Then I'm going to curl up and watch "Golden Girls" re-runs until I can't laugh at Rose anymore.
For her birthday last year, our family took Granny out for Mexican. She wasn't feeling her best, but she certainly didn't let that dampen her mood! Her strength and determination was immeasurable and I think, in some way, she's been sharing those traits with me lately.
Happy Birthday, Granny! I love you!
